About

Conrad Chatterton is an English baritone soon joining the prestigious Deutsche Oper am Rhein’s Opernstudio for the 2026–2028 seasons. He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied under Mark Wildman, completed an Advanced Diploma in Opera, and received the Regency Award for Outstanding and Distinguished Achievement. He also holds a Master of Music with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied with Matthew Best, as well as an MA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Aberdeen.

 

His operatic repertoire includes Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Vater (Hänsel und Gretel), Sir John Falstaff (Sir John in Love), Mr Gedge (Albert Herring), Edmund Bertram (Mansfield Park), Gianni Schicchi (Gianni Schicchi), among other roles.

 

Recent engagements include covering Schaunard (La Bohème), Kromow (The Merry Widow), and Curio (Giulio Cesare) at the Glyndebourne Festival. He has also appeared over multiple seasons as a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus, performing in productions including Falstaff, Kát’a Kabanová, Parsifal, Saul, Don Giovanni, L’elisir d’amore, Semele, and The Rake’s Progress. Additional chorus work includes performances with Grange Park Opera in Otello, Der fliegende Holländer, La Gioconda, and The Excursions of Mr Brouček.

 

Equally at home on the concert platform, Conrad’s oratorio repertoire includes Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle, and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, among many other works.
