Conrad Chatterton is an English baritone set to join the prestigious Opernstudio of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein for the 2026–2028 seasons. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, he studied with Mark Wildman, completed the Advanced Diploma in Opera, and was honoured with the Regency Award for Outstanding and Distinguished Achievement. He also holds a Master of Music with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music, where he trained under Matthew Best, as well as an M.A. (Hons) in Geography from the University of Aberdeen.
On the operatic stage, Conrad has performed a wide range of roles, including ‘Papageno’ (Die Zauberflöte), ‘Vater’ (Hänsel und Gretel), ‘Guglielmo’ (Così fan tutte), ‘Sir John Falstaff’ (Sir John in Love), ‘Mr. Gedge’ (Albert Herring), ‘Edmund Bertram’ (Mansfield Park), and ‘Gianni Schicchi’ (Gianni Schicchi), among others.
Recent highlights include his selection for the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie, covering ‘Schaunard’ (La Bohème), ‘Kromow’ (The Merry Widow), and ‘Curio’ (Giulio Cesare) at the Glyndebourne Festival, and multiple seasons as a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus.
Equally active in concert repertoire, Conrad has appeared in works such as Mendelssohn’s ‘Elijah’, Brahms’ ‘Ein deutsches Requiem’, Rossini’s ‘Petite Messe Solennelle’, and Bach’s ‘Christmas Oratorio’, alongside a broad range of additional oratorio and concert engagements.
