About

Conrad Chatterton is an English baritone studying under the guidance of Mark Wildman, Ingrid Surgenor, and Chris Hopkins. He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music (RAM), where he completed an Advanced Diploma in Opera and was honoured with the Regency Award for outstanding and distinguished achievement. He also holds a Master of Music with Distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), where he studied with Matthew Best, and an M.A. (Hons) in Geography from the University of Aberdeen.

 

Conrad’s operatic roles include Papageno (Die Zauberflöte, RAM), Vater (Hänsel und Gretel, RAM), Sir John Falstaff (Sir John in Love, BYO), Mr. Gedge (Albert Herring, RAM), Edmund Bertram (Mansfield Park, RNCM), Gianni Schicchi (Gianni Schicchi, Random Opera Company), and Der Haushofmeister / Ein Lakai (Ariadne auf Naxos – Prologue, RNCM), among others.

 

Recent engagements include covering Schaunard (La Bohème), Kromow (The Merry Widow), and Curio (Giulio Cesare) at the Glyndebourne Festival. He was also a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Chorus for multiple seasons, where he appeared in numerous productions, including Falstaff, Kát’a Kabanová, Parsifal, Saul, Don Giovanni, L’elisir d’amore, Semele, and The Rake’s Progress. Other chorus work includes performances with Grange Park Opera in Otello, Der fliegende Holländer, La Gioconda, and The Excursions of Mr. Brouček.

 

Equally at home on the concert platform, Conrad’s oratorio repertoire includes Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, among many other works.
